Travel and eating

Eating on go?

June 15, 20242 min read

If you’re like me who values health, enjoys movement and feeling comfortable in their own skin, then hopefully you can relate to the what travelling and eating food on the go does!

I spend at least 1x night a week away from home. This means that I am never really in a routine or what others might call “work - life - balance”, which by the way, I don’t think actually exists!

When it came to travelling around the country the old version of Nika would:

❌Intermittently fast until midday - but drink at least 3 “plant based” coffees

❌Eat “healthy” salad with chicken from a shop on the side of the road (because a salad must be healthier then a pasta or a sandwich 🙄)

❌ Eat a processed protein bar because that way I eat a high protein snack and enjoy the pleasure of chocolate! Which for me, was important, because I was addicted to sugar!

❌ Drink a “low cal” Coke Zero- because it’s got “no calories”

❌ Eat a HUGE meal at the hotel restaurant - because I was “healthy” all day- so surely I was allowed to eat a good meal!

This way of eating, served me well for a couple of years, or so I thought! Until I started noticing changes in my body, that at first baffled me 🤪 This was my thought process:

Surely I was in a calorie deficit by only really eating 2 meals and 2 snacks a day?!

By not eating until midday, I was doing the right thing for my cells?! Leaving a smaller window of eating!

I noticed my energy levels had changed, despite being an active gym goer, I still felt flat.

When I looked in the mirror, I saw changes around the belly and face- I honestly felt inflamed and bloated!

The current Nika :

✅ Food is fuel - I eat 4-5 balanced meals a day

✅ Hydrating with water & electrolytes

✅ Listening to my body when I am actually hungry

✅ Meal prepping

✅ Eating my 🥦 first

I really love sharing this tips to complete wellness for females 🦋
